2004 & 2005 GMC TopKick and Chevy Kodiak Diesel Owners Add 14.9 HP with New K&N Air Intake
- Aug 14, 2007
For the few who require a pickup truck larger than the Chevrolet Silverado or
the GMC Sierra, GM offers a pickup version of its seriously large GMC TopKick
and Chevrolet Kodiak chassis. Typically the Kodiak and the TopKick are used as
dump trucks, moving vans, school or shuttle buses, but these over-the-top pickup
bodies are designed for everyday use and to keep up with traffic. They also put
you eye to eye with most big rigs.
K&N Engineering has designed a High Flow Air Intake System (77-3063KTK) in textured black for the 2004 and 2005 GM TopKick 4500/5500 Duramax Diesels. See applications list below.
K&N dynamometer test show a 14.92 horsepower gain @ 2612 RPM. Model years 2004-2005 of the 4500/5500 Duramax received a 29.99 ft-lb increase @2612rpm. K&N Engineers replaced the TopKick's original intake assembly with an all-new High Flow Air Intake design. The new system gets air from the O/E fresh air inlet through an oversized conical shaped K&N High-Flow Air Filter (RC -5165) that never needs to be replaced.
A powder coated steel heat shield mounts in place of the stock air box. It protects the chrome top K&N Air Filter and isolates it from engine heat. As air passes the filter, it travels though the black textured powder coated aluminum tube and a 90-degree silicone hose that is attached to the throttle body.
The 77-3063KTK retains the use of the O/E Mass Airflow Sensor and attaches to the CNC-machined MAF sensor mount welded to the intake tube. It takes about 90 minutes to install this K&N Air Intake which is backed by the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.
