2015-2017 Volkswagen Golf & GTI Turbo Boost Power & Torque with K&N Air Intake System

The Volkswagen (VW) Golf, initially the Volkswagen Rabbit in North America, almost single handedly spawned the “Hot Hatch” movement. The idea was simple, take an economy car, outfit it with a performance engine and suspension package, then suddenly the car was both sporty and practical. The same tradition of performance and practicality applies to the 2015 Volkswagen Golf 1.8-liter turbo engine and its various trim levels, including the 2015 Golf GTI. The GTI is equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine capable of producing 40 more horsepower and nearly 60 lb-ft more torque than the standard 2015 VW Golf 1.8T.
With a K&N® air intake system 69-9506TTK for 2015-2017 Volkswagen Golf 1.8T or GTI 2.0T models, an engine is able to overcome restriction, better utilize available airflow, and produce more horsepower and torque. A K&N Typhoon air intake eliminates the restrictive factory intake tubes, and sound baffling by replacing them with a mandrel bent aluminum air intake tube coupled to a high-flow washable and reusable K&N air filter. The aluminum air intake tube is protected with a flat black powder coat to ensure it looks just as good as it performs. Additionally, the 2015-2017 VW Golf 1.8L and GTI 2.0T K&N air intake system incorporates an application specific powder coated heat shield which blocks hot air from rising off the exhaust manifold into the air filter and reuses the factory fresh air inlet to introduce cooler air to the K&N air filter.
The design and testing of K&N 2015 Golf and GTI air intake 69-9506TTK resulted in dynamometer-proven increases in horsepower and torque across the entire RPM range. On the dyno, the 2015 VW Golf and GTI K&N intake produced an estimated additional 12.85 horsepower at a commonly used 3,933 rpm when installed on a 2015 Volkswagen GTI 2.0T. Equally beneficial to acceleration and driving performance is the estimated gain of 19.17 lb-ft of torque at 3,715 rpm. In addition to increasing horsepower, installation of a K&N air intake system will give the engine a sportier sound.
