2015 Cadillac ATS 2.5L Gets a Performance Boost with a K&N Air Intake System
- Dec 14, 2015
Prior to the debut of the 2013 Cadillac ATS, the Cadillac CTS was the GM Flagship brand's smallest vehicle offering. While GM priced the CTS near compact sized vehicles like the BMW 3-series, and Audi A4, it turns out buyers in that price range still preferred a smaller vehicle, hence the development of the Cadillac ATS. Instead of sacrificing performance by modifying a heavier platform, or basing the ATS on a front wheel drive compact platform, GM engineers developed the new for 2012 GM Alpha platform which made its debut in the 2013 Cadillac ATS. The Alpha platform has proved so favorable that it is now used in the 2014+ Cadillac CTS models as well as the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro.. Engine choices for 2013 through 2015 Cadillac ATS models include the base 2.5-liter naturally aspirated L4, a turbocharged 2.0L L4, as well as a 3.6L LFX V6 found in many GM vehicles. The base 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine offers respectable performance at 202 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. That level of performance isn't anything to get too excited about, however at least the ATS version of the LCV 2.5-liter engine produces more horsepower than the Chevy Malibu or Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon 2.5L L4 models. Part of what is holding back the 2013-2015 Cadillac ATS 2.5L engine's performance is the fact that factory designers favor low cost, and typically more restrictive, forms of air induction systems. K&N is able to provide a very respectable boost in performance for 2013-2015 Cadillac ATS 2.5L models by replacing the factory accordion like air intake tubing and restrictive air filter box with a performance designed intake tube, air filter heat shield, and high-flow air filter from one of the most trusted names in the industry, K&N. A roto-molded high density polyethylene K&N air intake tube designed for performance will help to smooth and straighten airflow as it enters the engine's throttle body. Connected to the end of the new K&N air intake tube is a legendary K&N high-flow air filter designed for superior airflow and superior performance.
An application specific air filter heat shield with a length of quality edge trim lining the upper portion shrouds the K&N high-flow reusable air filter to help deflect engine heat from warming the air entering the K&N air filter. Included with the 2013-2015 Cadillac ATS 2.5L K&N air intake system is a secondary air filter for use with 2013, 2014, or 2015 Cadillac ATS models equipped with a secondary air source. Rounding out this complete bolt on performance intake package for the 2013-2015 ATS 2.5L are all the necessary hardware components, step by step installation instructions with photos, and a printed copy of the K&N dynamometer test showing what kind of power gain is possible with this K&N air intake system. When K&N air intake 63-3083 was installed on an otherwise stock 2014 Cadillac ATS 2.5-liter model, in-house dyno testing showed an estimated gain of 8.27 additional horsepower and 14.36 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels. With performance gains shown across the entire RPM range, this is an excellent boost in performance that can actually be felt every time the gas pedal is pressed. K&N air intake systems are backed by a horsepower guarantee as well as a 10-year/million mile limited warranty to give K&N buyers confidence in their purchase. Additionally, K&N stands behind its products with a consumer protection pledge to help ease concerns of a K&N product impacting a vehicle warranty. This K&N air intake system is designed to fit, function, and provide more performance without the need for additional modifications on the following 2013, 2014, or 2015 Cadillac ATS models: 2015 CADILLAC ATS 2.5L L4 F/I - All Other ATS upgrades can be found on the K&N Air Filters for the Cadillac ATS page. Additional performance upgrades for other vehicles can be found using the K&N Search By Vehicle tool. Order K&N performance upgrades at KNFilters.com or find an authorized K&N dealer using the K&N Dealer Search. |
