BMW M5 Owners Get Performance with K&N Air Filters
- Oct 27, 2006
The all new 4th generation BMW M5 has the first V10 engine to power a
production class. The M5 also offers the best power-to-weight ratio in its
class. In the tradition of BMW M5, the chassis has been engineered to keep up
with the power and the exterior treatment is subtle, but distinctive.
K&N has designed two Lifetime Replacement Air Filters for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 BMW M5 models with 5.0L engine and 2005 to 2010 BMW M6 models with 5.0L engine.
The engine on the BMW M5 uses two OE filters because the engine has two air boxes, one for each cylinder bank. Simply remove the OE filter from the right side air box and the left side air box and replace them with K&N's 33-2350, right side air box; and 33-2352, left side air box. The drop-in design means adding performance is simple; just remove the disposable air filters in the BMW M5 and replace them with K&N.
The washable, reusable, high flow flat panel filters (33-2350, 33-2352) are designed to increase horsepower and acceleration, while providing excellent filtration. "The engine on the BMW M5 is almost mirrored," said K&N Air Filter Project Manager Joost Adriaans. "The two air boxes are located on the left and right front corners of the engine bay. Both have intake tubes that point toward the middle."
Unlike disposable filters, K&N Air Filters use a unique pleated design comprised of an oiled cotton fabric sandwiched between two layers of epoxy-coated aluminum screen. The filters capture airborne dirt particles while allowing high volume air flow. These particles then cling to the outside of the filter and become part of the filtering media.
Also, K&N replacement air filters for street vehicles are covered by our famous K&N Million-Mile Limited Warranty and will be the last air filter your vehicle will ever need. K&N invented the concept of washable, reusable filters more than 35 years ago.
