The Winner’s Circle was a family affair at the IHRA Northern Nationals in Martin, Missouri. Defending Super Rod World Champion Brian Folk took top honors in his category and his brother Nick Folk took the victory in Stock Eliminator. Nick Folk is a former Top Dragster World Champion.

The weekend began on a high note after Brain Folk drove the team’s Camaro Roadster to a semi-final finish in the annual Moser Axle Mania Shootout. The top 32 IHRA sportsman battle for a $51,000 purse in the Shootout. Folk advanced to the semi-final round, but lost in a close contest to Super Stock qualifier Gil Carty Jr. Folk Racing Team did not win the lion’s share of the prize purse, but enjoyed a good payday overall as second place winners in the shootout.

“That second place win set the stage for the remainder of the weekend,” said Brian Folk. “Nick drove his Wegner Racing Engines powered LS-1 Camaro to the top qualifying spot and moved up the ranks.” Nick Folk took the victory and now has the lead in IHRA Stock Eliminator points. He is also a step closer to take the podium as the 2008 World Champion.
Brian Folk maneuvered his Camaro Roadster through a talented Super Rod field to the finals. He battled Jimmy Lewis, the runaway points leader in 2008 Super Rod championship points. Folk defeated Lewis, even thought the two left the starting line in unison.
“I was just lucky in the final,” said Brian Folk. “When we got near the finish line, he was ahead and I just gave up. Then I looked up and my win light was on. I couldn’t believe it.”
The Folk family uses K&N Products on all their vehicles. “Our K&N air and oil filters are the best on the market,” said Folk. “The dirt stays out of our engines and the filtration is great which gives us a competitive edge on the track."
