CORR Champ Gears Up for SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge
- Jan 15, 2007
Carl Renezeder had the most successful season in his career last year and is
gearing up for the 2007 SCORE Season. The SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge starts this weekend. In 2006, the CORR
Pro-2 Champion missed winning at Laughlin overall by a mere 30 seconds. This
year, owner and driver Renezeder hopes to make that time up and more.
“I wish we were there today,” said Renezeder. “The truck is ready. The team is ready and I’m so ready I can barely stand it.”
The Laguna Beach, California resident successfully opened up his desert season in 2006 by winning the infamous Laughlin Leap, and went on to win the race the first day. He set a win or go home precedent for the season.
“We always set high expectations for ourselves, but there seems to be an even greater sense of urgency to get a win this year,” said Renezeder. “Laughlin is tough because you have to be absolutely flawless. It’s a sprint race that requires you to be on top of your game both days. That plays to my team’s strengths, so my hopes are high.”
With the 2nd place finish at Laughlin last season, a 3rd place at the SCORE Primm 300, 10 short course wins and a short course championship, Renezeder has everything necessary for continued success.
“As we prepare for the 2007 season, we’re excited about our continued relationship with K&N Engineering,” Renezeder said. “We strive to be the best and set our sights on a championship every year, so it only makes sense to use the best products each industry has to offer. K&N makes the best Air and Oil Filters and is the true industry leader. We use their products with total confidence and do our best to make them proud.”
Renezeder also said history does not win races. As soon as the checkered flag waved at the final race of 2006, the 2007 season started with a clean slate. “It’s time to build a new season record,” said Jennifer Bissett of American Flyer Racing. “The team would like to do that with a win.”
