K&N supported racer Kyle Wyman settled into third place at Laguna Seca aboard his Millennium Technologies Harley-Davidson XR1200 motorcycle
K&N supported Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series racer Kyle Wyman underwent surgery to repair a torn meniscus and remove cartilage from his knee just four days before the AMA Pro Road Racing event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Wyman was fresh off a recent crash at Barber Motorsports Park aboard the Millennium Technologies XR1200 in June. Regarding his knee, Wyman said “It felt all right,” he continued “It just feels good to be back on the podium. It’s been a really up-and-down season.”
Wyman lost some ground on the Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson race leaders Steve Rapp and Danny Eslick but crossed the finish line at Laguna Seca a good distance in front of the pack
Wyman started the AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series race at Laguna Seca from third place on the grid. He would battle with race leaders Danny Eslick and Steve Rapp early on before settling into a rhythm and finishing with a third place podium position. Wyman said of his performance “About lap four I over-revved my bike coming up the corkscrew. I lost some power there and couldn’t stick with the leaders.”
Just four days after knee surgery K&N sponsored XR1200 racer Kyle Wyman stands on the AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series podium in third behind Steve Rapp and Danny Eslick
The defending AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series champion, Steve Rapp took off at the start of the race and broke free of the rest of the pack. Rapp would cross the finish line first, however, he was assessed a ten-second penalty as a result of having jumped the start. Rapp’s lead was so great that he still finished second in the race with Danny Eslick named the winner of the AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson series round held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
The AMA Pro Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson Series race at Laguna Seca marks the halfway point of the 2014 season. Kyle Wyman’s podium finish moved him up into 6th place in the overall series points championship.
