Ford Explorer Owners Raise the Bar By Estimated 11 HP with K&N Performance Air Intake System
- Jun 22, 2007
The new Ford Explorer is a midsize SUV can seat up to seven people or carry a
maximum of 85 cubic feet of cargo. Ford markets the vehicle as an excellent ride
with a comfortable and roomy cabin along with a high towing capacity on its V8
models.
K&N Engineering has released an Air Intake System for 2006, 2007 and 2008 Ford Explorer with the 4.6 liter engine. K&N 57-2573 intake system is guaranteed to gain horsepower. K&N dynamometer tests show an estimated 11 horsepower gain @ 4500 RPM with these performance intakes.
To add performance K&N replaces the Explorer's original intake assembly with an all new air intake kit. The new system pulls air through a K&N Lifetime High-Flow Chrome Top Air Filter (RF-1048) that increases air flow and filtering capacity.
A powder coated steel heat shield surrounds and protects the K&N Air Filter by isolating it from engine heat. The 57-2573 intake retains the use of their OE Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) which attaches to a mount that is welded to the intake tube.
It takes 90 minutes or less to install this air intake kit with simple hand tools and is also backed by the K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.
