Wall Speedway, named ‘The Gauntlet’ is a 16-degree banked oval along the straightaway with 30 degrees on the turns before drivers move to the figure 8 infield portion of the course. There was rain early on competition day, but the skies cleared for the main and the track was ideal for door-to-door high speed battles. In the finals Gittin, Jr., stood up against McNamara in a closely fought match, but ultimately McNamara took the win.
Following round 3, McNamara advanced to first in points in the overall championship, Gittin, Jr., is in fifth place and McQuarrie moved forward to seventh place in the standings.
“Falken Tires would like to thank its drivers, staff associates and fans for helping make history and this long standing goal a reality for its team and brand,” according to a Falken news release. “Round 3 results truly show the capabilities of the Azenis RT-615 and its dedication to the sport of drifting. Autosport Dynamics has done an outstanding job building and preparing each of the three vehicles winning this round and the K&N filters helped keep the engines breathing while protecting them from the harsh track conditions and debris throughout the entire competition.”
Team Falken will head to hotter weather when Formula D hits Nevada for Round 4 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, July 10-11.
