IMSA Lites Series in New Jersey Dominated by Primetime's Elan DP-02
- Jun 16, 2009
Primetime Race Group owner and driver Joel Feinberg dominated round 6 of the IMSA Lites Series at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey in his Mazda powered Elan DP-02.
Joel Feinberg will next race in his Elan DP-02 and his ALMS GT2 Viper at the Northeast Grand Prix in Lakeville, Connecticut
Feinberg logged back to back podium finishes along with a win in the 45 minute sprint race on the 2.17 mile 12 turn race circuit. Throughout the four day event, Feinberg recorded consistent lap times in every session. This put the Fort Lauderdale, Floridian in either the fastest spot or within tenths of a second of the fastest spot among the field of 16 drivers in the American Le Mans Series.

“In round five, Joel started from P3 and fell back to P8 during the race because of four unexpected incidents of aggressive maneuvers through the limited and less then optimal passing zones,” said Primetime Marketing Manager Britoni Burdett. “He ultimately made his way back through the race traffic and into a P3 finishing position.”
During Sunday’s qualifying session Feinberg set a lap time of 1:15.755 which placed him less than 0.400 seconds off the pole sitter. Once the green flag was waived, Feinberg was in hot pursuit of his competitors. He passed Kyle Marcelli in turn 9 and proceeded to chase Lucas Downs for 6 laps until he passed him.
“Joel was on kill mode,” said Burdett. “Once he was on the bumper of race leader Tom Drewer, he stayed in his mirrors until a caution midway in the race. After four laps behind the pace car the race was back under a green flag and Joel passed Drewer and just let go.”
Feinberg crossed the finish line with nearly a twenty car gap, almost 4 seconds ahead of his competition. It was his second win and fourth podium of the season.
“The K&N air filters we use in the Primetime Mazda-powered Elan DP-02 sports racers always work flawlessly,” said Joe Henry, Primetime Chief Engineer. “We never have to worry about the performance of the K&N products. K&N provides the highest quality filters which help increase horsepower and helps guarantee the performance we need in our race cars.”
"This was a text book win for us," said Feinberg. "The whole team took part in this one. This race showed us how good we really are at what we do. My guys gave me a car that was consistently the fastest car on the track."
Primetime’s next event will be the Northeast Grand Prix in Lakeville, Connecticut on July 18. There, Feinberg will face a triple header race day as he pilots both the No. 7 Elan DP-02 in the IMSA Lites double header and the No. 11 ALMS GT2 Viper.
