K&N Air Filter for 2017 Hyundai Elantra Enhances Airflow
- Mar 1, 2017
One of Hyundai’s most popular models, the Elantra, is a four-door compact sedan that debuted in 1990. A Mitsubishi-designed 1.6-liter straight-four DOHC 16-valve engine was used to power the first generation (1990-1995) model. It produced 113 horsepower (84 kW) at 6,000 rpm and accelerated from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 9.5 seconds. Hyundai claimed that the car’s top speed was 116 mph (187 km/h). Other engines that powered the first incarnation of the Elantra include a 1.5-liter I4 and a 1.8-liter I4 gasoline engines. Two transmissions were available –- a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic. Now in its sixth generation (2016-present), the Elantra is available with a choice of four gasoline and one diesel engines –- a 1.4-liter Kappa I4, a 1.6-liter Gamma I4, 1.6-liter Gamma G4FJ I4 turbocharged and a 2.0-liter Nu I4 rounds out the gasoline version and a 1.6-liter U2 I4 turbocharged is the only diesel-powered engine. There are three transmissions –- a 6-speed automatic, 6-speed manual, and a 7-speed DCT. The K&N 33-5050 replacement air filter is designed to enhance the airflow as well as the protection of the engines in the Elantra regardless of whether it is the 1.4-liter or the 2.0-liter that is powering it. The filter features a multilayered cotton gauze media that has been treated with a special grade of filter oil, which makes the strands of the cotton gauze very sticky. This permits the media to catch and hold contaminant particles. The filter is also washable and reusable and lasts up to 50,000 miles between cleanings.
K&N is so sure of the quality of the filter it backs it with a 10-Year/Million Mile Limited Warranty. The promise guarantees that the air filter will perform for up to 10 years or 1,000,000 miles without requiring replacement. The construction of the media also ensures excellent airflow. As more and more particles are captured, the airflow is not restricted and continues through permitting the K&N filter to last longer than other filters. Another benefit is the K&N air filter will not void the vehicle warranty and it will work with OEM vehicle electronics. It is designed to fit into the existing factory air box. Installation is very easy. All you have to do is remove the old used filter and replace it with the K&N filter. The installation takes just a few minutes and you can use common hand tools to do the job. The K&N 33-5050 air filter fits the following vehicles: 2017 HYUNDAI I30 III 1.6L L4 Diesel Engine - All Models | |||
