K&N Filters No. 0 is Runner Up in Golden State Challenge Series Race at Petaluma
- Apr 21, 2009
In the fourth Golden State Challenge Series of the season, Jonathan Allard took a very close second place finish at the Petaluma Speedway. Allard uses K&N products on his Sprint Car. “K&N makes the best oil and air filters for our cars,” he said. “K&N is easy to use and maintain. We just wash, assemble and race.”

This was the second time this season that Allard finished second to Tyler Walker. It was however, his fourth finish of second or better in eight starts at the track since 2005. “A second place finish is good in the long run,” said Allard. “We want wins. I thought I might have had Tyler off the final corner, but came up a bit short.”

The two-time and defending King of California lined-up on the outside of the second row in the main event and settled into third at the waving of the green flag. The 3/8 mile clay oval was very hooked up in the feature and Allard was up on the wheel as he tried to find the right line to put the Williams Motorsports, K&N Filters, Red Line Oil No. 0 on the sticky surface.
“It was difficult to make things happen in the open track,” said Allard. “At Petaluma, once lapped traffic comes into play the intensity heats up.” During lap 15 Allard moved into second place. As soon as he was in position to take over and go into first place the caution lights came on and took them out of lapped traffic.
“On the restart Tyler escaped, but I quickly had a chance to close in,” said the Chico, California native. “As soon as I had that opportunity, there was another caution.”
Allard dove as hard as he could and shot to the high side of turn four. He could not get the opening he needed and had to settle for second at the stripe. “This place is exciting when lapped cars come into play,” he said. “A lot of times it is what decides the races at Petaluma.”
Next up for Allard and Williams Motorsports will be a double-header weekend starting with the re-scheduled Bill Brownell Memorial on Friday in Chico, followed by the fifth event of the Golden State Challenge Series season on Saturday at the Ocean Speedway in Watsonville. "We've been in position to win multiple races so far this year so hopefully next weekend we can get back into victory lane at Chico and Watsonville," said Allard.
