K&N’s Bradley Morris Caps Off a Rocky Weekend with Two Sunday Podiums at Lake Elsinore
- Jun 11, 2013
Bradley Morris came into the event as the 2013 points leader in the Pro Buggy Division and fourth in the Pro Lite class. The weekend started out promising enough with the practice sessions going well. Bradley Morris was the fastest in his group in Pro Lite and second fastest in Pro Buggy. Saturday morning continued strong with Morris qualifying second in the Pro Buggy and sixth in the Pro Lite. However, after that, the proverbial racing rollercoaster ride began for the BME Team. The first challenge came in the Pro Buggy race, where things seemed to be going great. Bradley Morris was running in second with the top-three racers, going at it bumper-to-bumper, when going into a turn Bradley Morris got tagged in the rear causing a flat tire. The flat was then immediately overshadowed by the more damaging broken crankshaft, ending the race for Bradley Morris. Displaying the kind of maturity that's fast becoming his trademark, Bradley Morris put the Pro Buggy race behind him as he set his sights on the Pro Lite contest. When the race started Bradley Morris was focused and moving forward before the green flag stopped waving. He worked his way up to third place within three laps, when suddenly he lost all the drive in the truck. The output shaft had snapped in the transmission to end that race early as well. His team was now left looking at a late night in order to have both vehicles race ready for Sunday.
Sunday morning started out with the team in high spirits once more, joking around because they knew they had the vehicles ready to go. No one was going to allow the previous day to cast a dark cloud over the new day of racing. Qualifying went great with the Pro Lite, Bradley Morris earned the number five spot, and in the Pro Buggy he was first, as well as also running the fastest lap of the weekend in that Division. Starting on the pole in Pro Buggy with the champion starting right next to him on the front row, Bradley Morris knew this was going to make for a great race. Right from the get-go the relentless battling began, with Morris holding the lead. After settling in he even managed to put some distance between himself and second place, until a caution flag came out and negated the lead Morris had gained.
After a rocky start the BME Motorsports team capped off their up-and-down weekend in grand fashion, finishing with two podiums on Sunday. "Sunday's racing couldn't have happened without the BME crew's hard work and dedication getting both vehicles back together and race ready," Morris said. Exercising his continuing development as a racer, the young driver was able to remain poised and focused on the task at hand. The next stop for the K&N Filters and Kicker Audio Team is Salt Lake City in June. "It's going to be a great race and a challenge to have the fastest lap of the weekend again for the third time in a row," added Morris "but I'm very focused on making it happen." |
