K&N Supported Projekt Cars Show Entertained St Giles Nursing & Rehab Residents
Jul 30, 2015
Projekt Cars, along with local car clubs Team Evince, Team Defiance, and Team Legacy treated the staff and residents of St Giles Nursing & Rehab to over 40 custom vehicles on display
Alma Molina, wife of Projekt Cars founder Carlos Molina, came up with an idea to give back to the community by doing what Projekt Cars is best at; showing off custom cars
K&N air filters sponsored Projekt Cars is based in El Paso, Texas and its membership is composed mostly of military veterans. Carlos Molina, founder of Projekt Cars, began the group in 1994 while serving in the US Army as Military Intelligence in Panama City, Panama. Projekt Cars began as a means for military members to obtain aftermarket automotive parts while serving abroad through an intranet. This virtual storefront alleviated the hassle of ordering through the Post Exchange (PX). After returning home in 2000 Molina used his passion for cars and experience with the automotive aftermarket to continue his efforts in customization and product placement at high-profile car shows including the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show held in Las Vegas, Nevada each November.
Carlos' wife, Alma, came up with an idea to give back to the community by doing what Projekt Cars is best at; showing off custom cars. In cooperation with staff members of the St Giles Nursing & Rehabilitation center in El Paso, Texas, the group committed to putting on the first St Giles Show & Shine car show. With the help of local car clubs Team Evince, Team Defiance, and Team Legacy the staff and residents of St Giles were treated to over 40 custom vehicles on display. The St Giles Show & Shine was open to the community and the event quickly became a family affair. "The purpose of the car show was of course for the entertainment and enjoyment of our residents. But secondly, it was a community awareness event. We want to welcome families and people of all ages to experience our friendly staff and our beautiful facility before they have a need for our services," said Martha Voiland, MBA, OTR, and Director of Business Development.

With an inflatable bounce house jumper, live DJ, face painting and traditional Native American performers on site, the first St Giles Show & Shine made for a fun-filled Sunday afternoon. The event was such a success that Projekt Cars and St Giles have already scheduled another event for the near future.
