NHRA and K&N Engineering HONOR multimedia CHALLENGE winners

POMONA, CA -- Winners of the 2004 K&N Filters High School Multi-Media Challenge were announced March 24, 2005 during an awards ceremony held at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum. The ceremony was hosted by Kenny Sargent, of the SpeedFreaks radio and television show, as well as representatives from NHRA and K&N Engineering, Inc.
Students who attended the 16th annual NHRA Career Opportunities Fair presented by the U.S. Army at Pomona Raceway in November submitted photo and video entries taken during the event.
Cleveland High School took first place in the video competition. Team members included: Jeffrey Jackson, Raman Sarhad, Rameil Eaywazi and Edgar De Loera. Second place in the category went to San Bernardino County ROP at Victor Valley High School students Eyerly Dickerson, Amy Perry, Amber Ibarra and Diana Cansino. Chapman Hettinga Education Center CCROP was awarded third place. The team included Jesse Rodriguez, Jim Diaz, Tracy Romero, Wendy Portillo and Philip Blake.
In the color photo competition, Barstow High School scored twice. Abraham Valencia earned first place and Amanda Carter’s entry came in second. Third place went to Baldy View ROP’s Roberto Salinas.
Gabrielino High School student Rocky Wong claimed first place in the black and white photo category and Joeleen Sanchez of Monrovia High School earned second place.
Video competition teams were awarded $1,000 for first place, $500 for second and $250 for third place. Winners in the photos competition received savings bonds of $300 for first, $200 for second and $100 for third place.
The annual NHRA Career Opportunities Fair presented by the U.S. Army is held each year in conjunction with the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals.
