Steve Cohen Wins NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Super Comp
- Apr 5, 2006
Racer Steve Cohen said it always feels good to win. He should know after his
Super Comp victory in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series from Bradenton
Motorsports Park on March 26th in Florida.
After three days of stiff competition Cohen’s 2005 dragster came through for the veteran racer who has a long list of wins. Cohen also races a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am in Super Gas.
The 48-year-old Dade City, Florida resident started Bracket racing in 1979 and never looked back. He’s won 10 Division Championships, 3 World Championships, 14 NHRA National Events and 12 IHRA National Events.
Cohen said he uses K&N Engineering’s Performance Gold Oil Filter (HP-5001) in his vehicles. It is designed with drilled safety wire holes for racing and a sturdy one-inch wrench nut to make oil filter removal quick and easy. “The K&N filter goes on quick and comes off quick,” he said. “I’ve never had one collapse.”
K&N’s Premium Performance Gold Oil filter has thick canister walls for extra strength and durability to fill a need for racers. The walls reduce the risk of damage from loose rocks and debris.
“The K&N filter works well,” Cohen said. “We’ve never had any problems.” Cohen’s daughter Shelby, 15, is racing in Stock Eliminator. “We’re a busy family,” he said. “I race, my daughter races and there is work in between. I also build a new car every year.”
Cohen’s next two races are coming up. “I have a divisional race in Georgia and then it’s off to the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series in Belle Rose, Louisiana,” he said.
