BMW M5 Owners Get Performance with K&N Air Filters

The all new 4th generation BMW M5 has the first V10 engine to power a production class. The M5 also offers the best power-to-weight ratio in its class. In the tradition of BMW M5, the chassis has been engineered to keep up with the power and the exterior treatment is subtle, but distinctive.

K&N has designed two Lifetime Replacement Air Filters for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 BMW M5 models with 5.0L engine and 2005 to 2010 BMW M6 models with 5.0L engine.

The engine on the BMW M5 uses two OE filters because the engine has two air boxes, one for each cylinder bank. Simply remove the OE filter from the right side air box and the left side air box and replace them with K&N's 33-2350, right side air box; and 33-2352, left side air box. The drop-in design means adding performance is simple; just remove the disposable air filters in the BMW M5 and replace them with K&N.

The washable, reusable, high flow flat panel filters (33-2350, 33-2352) are designed to increase horsepower and acceleration, while providing excellent filtration. "The engine on the BMW M5 is almost mirrored," said K&N Air Filter Project Manager Joost Adriaans. "The two air boxes are located on the left and right front corners of the engine bay. Both have intake tubes that point toward the middle."

Unlike disposable filters, K&N Air Filters use a unique pleated design comprised of an oiled cotton fabric sandwiched between two layers of epoxy-coated aluminum screen. The filters capture airborne dirt particles while allowing high volume air flow. These particles then cling to the outside of the filter and become part of the filtering media.

Beard drove his Duck Tape/Loctite Volare to two round wins at the UTI World Finals in Rockingham, North Carolina in the IHRA National Event.

The finish was good enough to pick up 11 crucial points in the World points chase and allowed Beard to maintain his 9th place standing in Stock Eliminator.

“Considering all the trouble I’ve had this year, I can’t complain,” said Beard. “We fought a miss in the car from the second round of the season opener all the way to the end of August. It’s amazing we were able to pull out so many great finishes in such a short time.”

Beard uses K&N Engineering Products. “I protect my engines with K&N Filters,” he said. “There is a lot of dirt around and engines cost a lot of money. K&N products keep the dirt out of our engines. We also notice improvement in our gas mileage.”

Racing continues through December in the Carolinas for Beard and the Duck Tape Crew.

NHRA POWERade Funny Car Racer Preps for Las Vegas

Phil Burkart and his Checker, Schuck’s Kragen team was in Minnesota for the NHRA’s annual visit to Brainerd in early August. He barely qualified there, landing 16th for race day, and then was dismissed in the first round on Sunday. At that time, Burkart was 11th in points and in danger of falling further. He was looking for a way to salvage the season.

In the past couple of months, Burkart has done just that. He has a record 6-5 from the last six races, including a pair of second-round finishes and a big race victory in Reading. He has gone from 11th to 9th and now sits at 10th, but the 8th spot is still possible. Burkart is heading to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and hopes to finish strong in the 2006 NHRA POWERade season.

Phil Burkart and his blue CSK Team use K&N Engineering Oil Filters (HP-5001) every time they race. “The thick canister walls on the K&N Filters have extra strength and durability,” he said. “It reduces the risk of damage from debris on the race track. We wouldn’t dream of entering a race without K&N Filters.”

“We did mess up in Richmond, at the last race, but other than that we’ve been a very competitive group for the last couple of months,” said Burkart. “It’s one thing to be 6-5 at the last six races, but the truth is even better than the raw numbers. That’s a 6-5 mark against some of the toughest teams in the world. It happened that way because we’re still not qualifying as well as we’d like, and we have a tendency to face really fast cars in round one. Since mid August, we’ve beat a lot of those cars.”

Burkart and the CSK Team’s goal is to finish 8th in points. “To say this year was challenging is putting it way too lightly,” he said. “I’ve heard all the terms, including frustrating and agonizing and all they really mean is we’ve had a bad year. Both of the CSK cars have run well, but we don’t have the results to show for that. If we finish 8th or 9th, it means all was not lost on the 2006 tour.”

GMC Sierra Diesel and Chevy Silverado Diesel Owners Add Performance with K&N Air Filter

K&N Engineering has designed a Lifetime Replacement Air Filter (E-0781) to fit in the factory air box of the 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006 and 2005 Diesel GMC Sierra and Diesel Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD.

The washable, reusable, unique round filter (E-0781) is designed to increase horsepower and acceleration, while providing excellent filtration. "E-0781 is very different from the OE filter," said K&N Air Filter Project Manager Joost Adriaans. "Our engineers at K&N added a metal cage on the outside of E-0781 for extra strength and durability. The OE filter does not have the metal cage. A diesel engine is strong and pulls a lot of air, so we made another very strong filter."

Adding performance is simple; just remove the disposable air filter in the Sierra or Silverado and drop in the K&N Replacement Air Filter. "E-0781 is designed to fit in the factory airbox," said Adriaans. "It is application specific."

Unlike disposable filters, K&N Air Filters use a unique pleated design comprised of an oiled cotton fabric sandwiched between two layers of epoxy-coated aluminum screen. This K&N Diesel Filter is 6-ply for outstanding dirt filtering efficiency. K&N's filter design provides excellent filtration in addition to high air flow when its needed.

Also, K&N's stock replacement air filters for street vehicles are covered by our famous K&N Million-Mile Limited Warranty and will be the last air filter your vehicle will ever need. K&N invented the concept of washable, reusable filters more than 35 years ago.
