Round two of the 2009 American Le Mans Series Racing Season was difficult for the Primetime Race Group. ALMS GT2 Class driver Joel Feinberg was confident they would make a solid gain in championship points in the St. Pete Street fight in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Primetime Racing Viper Stranded in the St. Pete Street Fight in the American Le Mans Series in Florida
“This particular street circuit is very technical with tight corners and hard braking points,” said Primetime co-driver Chris Hall. “This makes it extremely challenging for the front engine Viper to overtake. This forces us to driver harder than any other driver out there.”

With a precise strategy in place, Primetime owner and driver Feinberg worked his way through the field and attempted to pass the LG Corvette on lap three. In turn two he was forced off the track spinning. The Viper brushed the way lightly and compromised two positions. Feinberg regained control and hit the track and ran for another solid 35 laps to the 5th position.
The Primetime Viper was made as a competition coupe for the European racing circuit. “We took it and developed it for the GT2 Class,” he said. “It has a V10 engine and we run a K&N air filter. K&N gives us excellent filtration and more air for additional power in competitions.”
Fifty three minutes into the St. Pete Grand Prix, slippery track conditions and tire complications resulted in an equation that left the Primetime Viper stranded in turn 10 on the back straight. There was debris on the track and Feinberg locked up in the brake zone and blew out his right front tire.
The Viper limped around the downtown waterfront streets and Feinberg attempted to reach pit lane for a tire change. On the back straight, he lost steering control and the Viper went into the concrete barrier wall.
The chassis on the Viper was not affected by the accident. “It was a sad ending to an optimistic beginning,” said Feinberg. “I’m really at a loss for words. With our strategy and clean racing we had the potential to finish on the podium. That’s racing.”
The Primetime Group plans to return to The Tequila Patron American Le Mans Series in Long Beach, California.

It was Nelson’s first win in Nevada in his new 2008 NSP Signature Series dragster with its 565 cubic inch engine. “This is my first grown up Wally,” said Nelson. “I won three Wally’s in Junior Dragster but this one feels awesome.”

Nelson won the Top Dragster Championship race on a breakout. Mike Henderson had an advantage off the line and then ran under his dial by -0.005. “I spun the tires on the line and knew I didn’t have enough time to make it to the finish line,” said Nelson. “I made the decision to push him out and have him make a mistake. He broke out too fast and I won.”
Nelson went through the entire six rounds in one day. “My car was super consistent,” he said. “I had good lights throughout the eliminations. We started around 10:30am in our class and finished around 4pm.”
Nelson works at K&N headquarters in Riverside, California. “I run the K&N oil filter product number
HP-3002 on my dragster,” he said. “We also use a K&N air intake system (57-3034) on our tow vehicle, a 2002 Chevy 3500. Working at K&N helps me understand the air flow technology and filtration. I get more power and it’s just a winning combination on and off the track.”
The drive down Interstate 15 from Las Vegas to Canyon Lake, California usually takes about four hours. “Traffic was really bad when we left,” said Nelson. “It took nearly seven hours to get home. It’s okay though, I held my little gold man the whole time.”
Nelson’s next race will be the Sportsman Nationals in Fontana, California.
Stock Car racing fans are familiar with Ford's current contender on the oval track. While the Fusion that rolls off the assembly line probably won't find it's way on to the track, its racing pedigree can't be denied. Born for the oval track, but built for the street, Ford Fusion owners can awaken their car's passion for competition with K&N's Performance Air Intake System (69-3515TS) for the 3.0L V6 Models.

With the addition of K&N's new Performance Air Intake System, part number 69-3515TS, Fusion owners can realize a gain of nearly 12 horsepower at the wheels. K&N's Research and Development Department tested a 2006 Ford Fusion 3.0L V6 on our in-house dynamometer. Results showed an increase of 11.9 horsepower @ 5001 RPM. 69-3515TS provides increased performance while intensifying under-hood appeal with an attractive Silver Powder Coated Aluminum Intake Tube.

K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten airflow. This allows your engine to pull in air with ease compared to the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more power and torque when you need it. With a K&N Performance Air Intake System, drivers can count on extra horsepower whether driving around town, commuting, or hauling the family on vacation.
This cold air intake system uses a conical shaped high-flow air filter (RU-5176) and powder coated aluminum heat shield in place of the vehicle's stock air box. The result is an air filter that captures harmful particles, flows more air, and increases service life. This K&N air filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions. Improving the air path between the filter and the engine is the powder coated aluminum intake tube. Our powder coated aluminum intake tubes offer power and a stylish appearance. The 69-3515TS takes about 90 minutes or less to install, with no cutting or drilling, and is covered by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty™.
For increased protection and style, K&N offers a Drycharger® filter wrap that can be used in conjunction with part number 69-3515TS. Drychargers® are made from a durable polyester material containing uniform micron openings which will stop small dirt particles and repel water; yet add little restriction to the airflow of your filter. Available in a variety of colors, K&N Drychargers® can be color coordinated with your car's finish or your favorite race team.

Andrew Comrie-Picard is tied for the lead in the Rally American National Championship Series
Rally driver Andrew (ACP) Comrie-Picard is ready to defend his lead in Rally America. “We’re looking forward to a strong performance at this technical event,” said Comrie-Picard. “These are the kinds of roads that really suit our team.”
Team ACPs Mitsubishi is equipped with K&N products
The team took back-to-back podium finishes in its NOS Energy Mitsubishi with K&N products. Team ACP tied with Rockstar Energy’s Tanner Foust for the championship lead.
The course is rugged and will test the skills of the racers. Team ACP will face roads that transition between twisty and tree-lined to fast and flowing. There are also drop-offs drivers have to watch out for.
ACP is facing the possibility of rain, which will make this event especially challenging. “The leading teams will claw tooth-and-nail for a fraction of a second advantage,” said Jen Horsey of Team ACP. “Andrew has used K&N for more than a decade. K&N gets us through the toughest conditions with mud and water by protection our engines. There is no compromise with K&N.”
Andrew Comrie-Picard is a contender for the top of the ranks in the American, Canadian and North American Rally Championships. He will also return to compete in X Games this summer for the fourth time.
