Carlsbad, California teen Jacob Pearlman capped-off his first season of competition in karting’s senior ranks by taking the checkered flag to win his first California State Karting Championship.

The 45th annual Cal-State Championships were hosted by the Tri-C Karters at the Grange Racetrack in Victorville, California over the Thanksgiving weekend. Tri-C Karters is one of America’s oldest and most competitive International Karting Federation (IKF) sanctioned organizations.

Pearlman, also known as JP at the track, won the pole as the fastest qualifier in his No. 125 DPK Birel with K&N products. He also finished first in both the pre-main and main events in the Rotax International Senior Class. On race day, JP fought the competition, a virus, crash damage and several mechanical issues, including a failed radiator, exhaust pipe and ignition system.
It was always Pearlman’s intention to compete for the state championship in both the TAG Senior and Rotax International Senior Classes. He didn’t count on a bad sore throat or no voice. Despite his illness, the high-school junior insisted on hitting the track and turned the fastest practice time of the day in Rotax.
The next day he raced against the top seeded nationally ranked racers. “JP’s condition worsened overnight, but he managed
to qualify mid-pack in a TAG Senior field with the top racers,” said Rich Pearlman, Jacob’s father. “He missed the 12 lap pre-main for a quick visit to the local urgent-care center where a doctor cleared him to race. We rushed back to the track, but JP had to start the 16 lap main event under the lights in the back.”
“I knew at that point my chance to win the TAG race was over,” said Jacob Pearlman. “But, I wanted to use the session to test
my racing skills at the Rotax race on Sunday and try and work my way back up into the top-10.” Although JP had a good start, he was caught up in a big wreck, involving half of the field in the
third turn of the first lap. The hard contact damaged the back of his kart and his brakes were stuck for the rest of the race.
The high desert of Southern California was warm and sunny on Sunday morning. Jacob was felling better and was fast during practice on the track. He kept his momentum throughout the day for his first California State Championship and the fastest lap of the day for any of the Rotex classes.
“It was a very challenging weekend for me,” said JP. “The Cal-State Championship was a goal we have been working towards for the last four months. K&N has been an amazing part of our racing program. We rely on their products both at the track and in our personal vehicles. I was very proud to have K&N on my kart for the victory lap.”
The Transalp made its debut on the European motorcycle scene in 1987. In 2008 the Honda XL700V Transalp was designed as a new adventure sports motorcycle in response to the popularity of the Paris-Dakar Rally.
K&N's HA-7008 Replacement Air Filter for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Honda XL700V Transalp
K&N has manufactured a replacement air filter
HA-7008 to fit in the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Honda XL700V Transalp. As an OE replacement filter it
fits directly into the air box without any cutting or fitting. Simply unclip and remove the factory filter. The K&N Replacement filter has a "lip seal" on the top and bottom for a secure fit. The K&N filter also has strengthening ribs for increased rigidity.
K&N is the inventor and world leader of the high-flow cotton air filter. K&N air filters are designed to increase horsepower while providing excellent protection. If every vehicle used washable and reusable K&N air filters, there would be far less debris in landfills.
The 2008, 2009 and 2010 Dodge Avenger shares its powertrain with the Chrysler Sebring sedan. It is equipped with a 2.4 liter engine that moves along reasonably well.
Air intake system for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Dodge Avenger with a 2.4 liter engine
For additional performance and power K&N has developed a high flow air intake system (69-2542TS)
with a powder coated silver finish for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Dodge Avenger with 2.4 liter engine. K&N dynamometer testing shows a 9.37 horsepower increase at 5368 rpm.
This is a great power gain for the naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine.
The OEM intake created a large amount of restriction that the K&N design reduced
for added power.

The 69-2542TS features a K&N lifetime washable and reusable air filter (RU-4860) which is located in the front left corner of the engine. Outside air goes through the
round tapered universal K&N air filter to the engine for increased airflow
and filtration. The K&N air filter also sits behind a powder coated heat shield to isolate it from engine heat. This air intake system replaces the original stock air box for an immediate power gain you can feel.
The 69-2542TS uses a CNC machined mass air sensor adaptor so the mass air sensor will work with the factory stock settings. The air intake tube
and filter attach to a filter adaptor which smoothes the air flow entering the tube.
This K&N air intake system can be easily installed in 90 minutes or less with simple hand tools. The entire system is backed by the K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.
