K&N's RU-5176 Universal Air Filter.
K&N has released a new round tapered universal air filter (RU-5176).
It is constructed with an ultra-strong pliable rubber flange, which absorbs
vibration and allows for secure attachment. K&N universal air filter flanges can
stretch up to 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) to fit in between sizes.
The RU-5176
is five inches (127 mm) in height with an outside base diameter of six inches
(152 mm) and a rubber top that has an outside diameter of five inches (127 mm).
The inside diameter of the flange is three inches (76 mm). The
flange length is two inches (51 mm), which allows plenty of room to clamp around
many engine or motor intakes.
K&N universal air filters are designed to provide increased airflow while
providing excellent engine protection. The RU-5176, like all K&N universal air
filters, is a washable reusable filter.

It was fall at the Skyview Drags 1/8 mile strip in Tioga Center, New York when racer Michael Beard left North Carolina to attend the final double header on the IHRA Division 1 Pro-Am Tour. “The chill in the air helped offset the high altitude of the track,” said Beard. “I made the trip to try and reset a world record.”

Beard knew it would be difficult race at the track built on top of a mountain. “I had to try,” he said. “I also knew it was possible.” Beard set up his Volare fast and just missed the record. His numbers were good enough for the number one qualifier position. “That was my first one in my car,” he said. “It was a surprise and it felt good.”

Summit Pro-Am Winner's Circle for Michael Beard and his 1980 Volare
Beard’s 1980 Plymouth Volare is powered by a Mopar 360 Magnum crate motor, tipping the scales at 3600 pounds to run in the H/CM (Crate Motor) class in stock eliminator. “We use K&N oil filters, K&N air filters and K&N valve breather covers,” said Beard. “I’m so happy to be able to get the number one qualifier position for a great sponsor like K&N Filters.”
Beard advanced to the third round of competition in the first race. He was knocked off the pole in the second event of the double-header weekend by a few thousandths of a second, but made it to the third round. Despite a near-perfect .001 reaction time, his opponent ran dead-on his dial in.
Beard finished the 2008 IHRA Drag Racing season in 6th place in the World Super Stock as well as 2nd in IHRA Division 3 Super Stock. In Stock Eliminator, Beard finished 5th in IHRA Division 1, and 24th in the world.
He plans to close out the year with a few big money bracket races in November.

Designers Christian Travert and Tim Cameron use Harley-Davidson parts including the VROD motor, the speedometer, the transmission and wiring harness as well as the switches. “Aside from the engine, tires and K&N filters we make everything in house with Harley-Davidson parts,” said Nicole Travert, Director of Business Development at Travertson. “We tool everything else on site.”

Travert designed a cast-aluminum frame structure that doubles as the fuel tank. There is also a framework of steel tubes which stretch over the engine. The wheelbase is of the V-Rex is over nine feet long. “It’s easy to handle,” said Travert. “It feels like you are sitting on a moped. The center of gravity was designed so that it is stable at low and high speeds.”
The V-REX has a chassis and shape unique to anything else on the road, with A-list celebrity looks it is in a class of its own. “We just filmed a pilot series on the History Channel,” said Travert. “The show is all about motorcycle technology.
We knew our American made bike would start a stir in the motorcycle industry, but we’ve caused a tidal wave.” As
part of that global tidal wave, Travertson ships the V-REX to Switzerland, Germany, Estonia, Spain and Dubai. “We only use the best on our bikes,” said Travert. “There is no better filter on the market than K&N.”
