When introduced in 2000 the Chrysler PT Cruiser was a whirlwind success. Timeless styling combined with modern convenience has created a fanatic following that transcends generations as well as gender. For the 2006 to 2008 model year the PT Cruiser received a number of updates both aesthetically and under the hood. This included a new performance based turbocharged engine tuned to deliver 230 horsepower. The PT Cruisers' fan base, hungry for more performance, will certainly be satisfied with K&N Engineering's Performance Air Intake System (57-1551) for the 2006 to 2008 PT Cruiser 2.4L Turbo.

"The electronic components under the hood were repositioned with the new design of the PT Cruiser," said K&N Performance Kit Manager Bert Heck. "K&N developed a new heat shield for this particular engine and redesigned the tube accordingly."

K&N tests, on our in house dynamometer, have shown a horsepower gain of 12.13 @ 5086 RPM with the K&N 57-1551 Air Intake. K&N Engineers were able to provide such impressive horsepower gains because the original factory airbox and original filter were restrictive, said Heck. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten airflow while providing outstanding filtration. This means engine protection with more power and torque when you need it.

This air intake system uses a conical shaped carbon fiber top high-flow air filter (RP- 4660). The carbon fiber top filter is used to add to the appeal of the PT Cruiser. This air filter captures harmful particles, provides more surface area, flows more air, and increases service life. It also performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions. Improving the air path between the filter and the motor is the rotationally-molded high-density polyethylene tube. It offers the most flexibility in design and outstanding horsepower numbers. "It's a very straight forward installation" according to Heck and it takes about 90 minutes or less to install this system with simple tools. It is covered by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty^™ and is street legal in all 50 US states.

K&N Engineering has unveiled a low cost performance air induction system (57A-6040) to improve the power of the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Honda Civic Type R with the 2.0 liter engine. With the addition of K&N's Apollo air protective filter enclosure and a washable reusable K&N air filter, air entering the engine will flow freely. The custom design eliminates problems caused by hot air and feeds cooler outside air into the engine.

The Apollo also provides the benefits of an open cone filter and a standard air box in one unit. The cold air feed attachment is removable and allows outside air to be fed into the unit. Zip ties are provided to secure the cold air hose.

The original air box on the 2007 Honda Civic Type R restricts air flow into the engine. The 57A-6040 will free your vehicle from much of this restriction. K&N has released a new performance air intake system (69-2022TS) for the 2007 through 2010 Mini Cooper with a 1.6 liter engine. By replacing your factory air intake assembly with K&N's air intake kit your engine will get more air with less restriction. This means more power and torque when you need it.

The 69-2022TS uses a conical shaped chrome top high-flow air filter and a powder coated silver intake tube designed to improve the air path from the filter to the motor. The aluminum heat shield protects the K&N washable and reusable air filter from engine heat for additional performance. The K&N air filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions.

Simply remove the intake snorkel from the resonator box on your Mini Cooper then remove the complete air box assembly and replace it with the K&N air intake assembly. The 69-2022TS does not fit U.S. vehicles. It can be easily installed in 90 minutes or less. It is also backed by the K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.

Rockstar Makita Team LeDuc Shows Strength in CORR Series at L.A. County Fairplex

In the Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) Series Rockstar Makita Team LeDuc is the team to beat. All four K&N Engineering sponsored drivers had strong performances at the Los Angeles County Fairplex in Pomona, California.

Rookie Kyle LeDuc had one win in the Pro 4 class, Todd LeDuc had two second place finishes in the Pro 2 class and Curt LeDuc had a third place finish in the Pro 4 class. Rookie Brian Deegan had a seventh place finish in the Pro Lite Class over the weekend.

On Saturday, Kyle LeDuc, a former Pro Lite champion, proved he could make the transition to the heavier and faster Pro 4 class. “We’re fast and we’re up front with the leaders,” said team founder Curt LeDuc. “We’re going to be a threat the rest of the season.”

At the start of the Pro 2 field, Todd LeDuc moved from fifth on the grid to second after only two laps. He took the lead briefly on lap 13 before Rob MacCachren passed him to win. They finished one-two and LeDuc moved up one spot to second in the point standings. “It was a great race,” said Todd LeDuc. “I was driving smart and a little conservative.”

In Sunday’s Pro 4 race, Rick Huseman took the lead from pole sitter Curt LeDuc at lap two. Kyle LeDuc eventually moved into second place. He took over first after Rick Huseman was shown the black flag for what race officials felt was rough driving. Two laps later, Kyle slowed down on the back stretch. His car had a broken rear driveshaft.

The race continued and Scott Douglas took the lead with Curt LeDuc in pursuit. At Turn 5 Curt LeDuc was shown the black flag. “Carl Rendezer checked up,” said Curt LeDuc. “I expected him to be gone by the time I got there and he wasn’t. I touched him, so I got a black flag and pulled off.” Curt LeDuc pulled into the pits on the final lap and finished eighth. Kyle LeDuc finished ninth. “It would have been nice to back up my win on Saturday,” he said. “What can you do? We can’t stop now."
