Most racers who go faster than 130 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats can only hear the wind as the blinding white salt shines under their motorcycles. Speed Week 2008 is back in Utah.
Honda CBR 600 ready to go in the 650 class at Bonneville Salt Flats
K&N sponsored Team Falkner Livingston teamed up with Malcolm Smith Racing to drive as fast as they can along I-80 near the Nevada border. The Salt Flats
are a natural race course that consists of sodium chloride and gypsum. In the winter the vast expanse floods and as the water evaporates the wind helps smooth the Salts.

Livingston will race his Honda CBR 600 and Malcolm Smith Racing will bring
identical 2008 Suzuki GSXR 1000s. “Malcolm and Alexander Smith are father and
son,” said Livingston. “This will be their first time racing at Bonneville. We
will help them get their bikes inspected and break them in on the Salts.
The adrenaline rush is part of racing on the hard smooth surface covered with salt granules. “Off- road riders seem to be more comfortable there because bikes tend to move around on the Salts,” said Livingston. “The surface is super smooth and slippery.”
Team Falkner Livingston uses K&N Engineering on its motorcycles. “K&N filters play an important part with making our bikes run well,” said Livingston. “We need to get as much air as possible into our engines and keep the granules and rocks away. K&N does its job, and that is why we rely on K&N air and oil filters.”
In 2007 Livingston qualified for the land speed record twice and pushed his 2007 GSXR 1000 at speeds of 180 mph.

Following back-to-back Stock Eliminator victories at the Thunder Nationals in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania and the Mopar Canadian Nationals in Grand Bend, Ontario, Bogacki took the top spot in Quick Rod at the IHRA Northern Nationals at U.S. 131 Dragway in Martin, Michigan.
IHRA Sportsman Class racer earns third consecutive National Event Victory
Bogacki’s road to the Quick Rod Winner’s Circle was a tough one. He began eliminations with a .009 induced 8.906 run to top Jerry Smith, Jr. In the second round Bogacki beat defending Division 5 Top Dragster champion Jim Prevo. Bogacki then beat Vernon Rowland and Jim Cowie in the third and fourth rounds and earned a semi-final spot next to three-time IHRA Hot Rod World Champion John Furr.
Furr was uncharacteristically late with a .055 reaction, which allowed Bogacki to take a fairly easy victory with a .020 induced 8.922. In the final round, he faced Chuck Harris and held the lead to the finish line.
“This type of run was beyond my wildest expectations,” said Bogacki. “When it’s going your way everything just falls into place.” The 27-year-old racer is now at 5th place in Quick Road standings. He also sits at 2nd spot in Stock Eliminator points and is 3rd in Top Dragster.
“I think I’ve still got a mathematical shot to win the championship in all three categories,” said Bogacki. “It’s been a great season and I want to thank my sponsors like K&N Engineering. I depend on K&N products on each of my three competition vehicles, the CSR Performance Products Dragster, the BTE Nova Stock Eliminator Entry and the Mickey Thompson Vega. K&N Filters give me the security and protection I need, without sacrificing the performance and consistency necessary to win.”

Crump had a broken finger on his left hand during the Prague race. The hard-charging Aussie dropped two points in the heats
and was outgunned in the semi-final which ultimately cost him first place.
“I still finished on the podium and collected 17 points,” said Crump. “I am in a much better position than I was at the same time last year. I am also more determined to win the World Championship. With five more rounds to go, the title is still wide open. My focus is to take one Grand Prix at a time and close that gap.”
The next round of the World Championship will take place at Mallila in Sweden on August 16.
