2007 and 2008 Ford F-150 Gets 9.88 More Horsepower with K&N Air Intake System

The Ford F150 series is one of the best selling vehicles in the United States and closes in on the million unit mark annually. The F-150 is tailored for the person who uses it for a daily commute as well as for serious towing or hauling. The 2007 Ford F150 models with the 4.6 liter engine use K&N's 57-2574 performance intake system.

K&N dynamometer testing shows a 9.88 horsepower gain @ 4200 RPM with these systems. K&N designers removed the OE air box and intake and built a larger intake system to open up the breathing capacity necessary for the 4.6 liter engine to get the full amount of air it needs.

The K&N air intake design provides excellent air filtration and lower restriction than the factory air box system for an immediate power gain. All the OE emissions devices are reused and the MAS placed in a location that works with factory settings.

A large chrome top K&N high flow air filter (RF-1041) allows free flowing air into the intake tube and increased dirt capacity. K&N also incorporated a radius adapter to help smooth out air flow coming through the air filter.

The heat shield assembly is installed into the engine bay using factory mounting points. The heat shield isolates the K&N air filter from the hotter temperatures around the engine and allows it to receive a consistent flow of fresh cooler air.

The E-3033 was engineered specifically as a replacement air filter for K&N’s replacement air filter system, E-0780, designed for the 2003 to 2007 Ford F-250 and F-350 with a 6 liter engine. If you drive in extremely harsh conditions and just don’t have time to clean your air filter right away, having a spare might be the answer. Simply swap K&N air filters then clean and re-oil the filter with K&N’s cleaning kit when it is convenient for you.

The E-3033, replacement air filter, is made of cotton gauze layered between two epoxy-coated aluminum wire screens. The cotton is treated with a specially formulated grade of oil causing tackiness throughout the cotton’s microscopic strands. This allows virtually unrestricted airflow to your engine while providing excellent filtration to protect your Ford pickup.

Limited Titanium Series Motorcycle Equipped with K&N XStream Top High-Flow Air Filter

ECOSSE Moto Works built a custom all-titanium series motorcycle with a custom BRM timepiece for the Robb Report, a magazine about luxury which features big ticket items. The BRM timepiece on this unique motorcycle series is an automatic chronograph with a brushed titanium bezel and a 48mm hexagonal face that reveals the watch's mechanics.

Only ten of the $275,000 ultimate street bikes will be available for purchase and all ten will be equipped with an over-sized K&N XStream Top High-Flow Air Filter (RX-4130-1). Besides the titanium chassis, BST carbon fiber wheels, Ohlins gas forks and TTX shock, there is a 2150cc supercharged, inter-cooled electronic fuel injected powerplant engine.

“Everything on this ECOSSE Titanium Series motorcycle has best of class components,” said Wendy Atchinson co-founder of ECOSSE Moto Works. “K&N, in our opinion, is the best.”

It took 11 months to create the first one. “It is very difficult to get titanium and to work with it,” said Atchinson. “Fortunately, we have very skilled welders who are able to purge the oxygen while working with titanium. Everything was done by hand.”

Donald Atchinson is the mechanical engineer and co-founder of ECOSSE Moto Works. “He designs all the motorcycles and I handle the business side,” said Wendy Atchinson. “The titanium bike was his vision and its power to weight ratio is phenomenal. It gets more than 200 horsepower at the rear wheel and more than 210 ft. lbs. of torque. It weighs in at 440 pounds.”

Every motorcycle in the series of ten will have “Titanium Series RR Limited Edition” and the serial number engraved on the handlebar clamp and VIN plate.

The boutique French watchmaker, BRM has incorporated the lines of the ECOSSE into a matching timepiece and both the bike and watch share the same color scheme. The watches will also be engraved with the same serial number as its motorcycle.
