Seymour has been racing for 4 years. “I work on my own vehicles,” he said. “I’ve blown my car up at the track, but my 331 cubic- inch Ford with a super charged motor can really haul. I can yank a motor and a transmission in two and a half hours.”

Seymour races at the Qualcomm Stadium RaceLegal.com drags in San Diego, California. The track has dual side-by-side 1/8 mile-timed lanes and burnouts are okay. On Friday night’s there are around 2,000 spectators per event.

Sweden’s Andreas Jonsson took first place and American Greg Hancock took second. Rounding out the podium finish was Australian Jason Crump in third place. Crump said he was disappointed, but managed to celebrate his solid performance as he accepted his bronze medal in the 2007 championship chase.

It was a difficult and hard year for the 2004 and 2006 World Speedway Champion. Early in the season mechanical problems and several injuries including a broken knee cap plagued Crump. “With all the issues in 2007 to finish as World number 3 is satisfying even though it is my worst result in seven years,” he said. “I need to take some time out away from racing so I can come back fully fit and determined to win back the world crown in 2008. You have not seen the end of me, there is some unfinished business to complete.”

Crump uses K&N Engineering products. “K&N Filters do the job they were designed to do,” he said. “I have solely used K&N products and never had a problem. K&N is the best for dirt track racing. They are unquestionably the greatest filter on the market. When you are racing for World Championships you need the best equipment available and K&N delivers just that.”

Crump will be staying in England for about five weeks preparing contracts for the 2008 season. He will fly to his home on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia for a summer break with his family.

Team Cadillac is in strong contention for the drivers and manufacturers' standing after nine races at tracks from Sebring and Long Beach to Salt Lake City and Toronto. Cadillac leads the manufacturers' standings and Cadillac drivers Lawson Ashenbach and Andy Pilgrim are second and third in the driver rankings. Ron Fellows could be the wild card driving Team Cadillac's third race-prepared CTS-V at Laguna Seca. Team Cadillac is equipped with K&N Engineering Oil Filters (HP-1007).

Cadillac is in position to repeat its 2005 sweep of the SPEED GT manufacturers' and drivers' titles. If Cadillac wins the pole or finishes 6th or better it wraps the manufacturers' championship. With 40 points on the line at Laguna Seca, the drivers' championships could go any way.

"Our strategy of running a third car at selected events has worked well for us," said GM Road Racing Group Manager Steve Wesoloski. "We were able to come out of Road Atlanta with a 10-point lead. Anything can happen in racing, but we have a good cushion going into the last race."

Fellows will have a front-row seat when the championship race unfolds. This will be his fifth start of the season with Team Cadillac. Fellows posted runner-up finishes in Toronto and Atlanta.

"My role is first to provide Cadillac with a third opportunity to clinch the manufacturers' title and then to help Lawson and Andy," said Fellows. "The Laguna Seca track can be difficult because of the sand that gets blown onto the course. I'm optimistic that we'll race just fine."

The final round of the 10-race SPEED GT Series is scheduled to start at 2.55 p.m. PST on Sunday October 21. The race will be televised on SPEED TV on Sunday, October 28 at 1 p.m. PST.
