The K&N Filters Team will be bringing chassis RK412-52 to Talladega. This chassis last raced at Daytona in February, where Kvapil started fourth and finished third.

“I’m looking forward to Talladega,” said Kvapil. “This is going to be a great race for us. We had the dominant truck at Daytona in February and came up just shy of pulling off the win. I think we have the truck that can finish the job here this week. Handling is not as big an issue at Talladega as it is at Daytona. It’s much wider and forgiving at Talladega. Hopefully we’ll be able to run at the front and pull off the win in the K&N Ford F-150.”

“We had a great run earlier in the year at Daytona,” said K&N Filters Crew Chief Mike Beam. “We’ve been anxious to get to Talladega.”

The event will be televised on SPEED –TV on October 6. Check your local listings for time.

Powersport ATV Tour Quadterrain Challenge Finale Dominated by Warnert Racing

In the WPSA Quadterrain Challenge Pro Championship, the final race of the season came down to a battle between Can Am Warnert Racing’s Scott Kilby and Jesse West. Only 15 points separated the pair after nine rounds of racing. Chris Borich and Chris Bithell of Warnert Racing were also in the running at the Field of Dreams in Boswell, Pennsylvania.

“We battle extreme dirt and conditions at our races,” said Levi Michel, Warnert Race Manager. “Our K&N air filters keep our engines running and give us better throttle response at every race.”

Bithell lead the charge in the main and blasted his way through a mud pit and rugged rock section. He was followed by teammates Borich, Kilby and Adam Vaughn. Bithell was able to negotiate the obstacles easily and made a significant lead over second place contender Borich. Kilby brought up the rear for the team as he maintained fourth place.

When the checkered flag came out, Bithell took first and Borich rounded out the podium at third. It was Borich’s sixth straight podium finish and more than enough to secure fourth place in the points standings. Kilby took second overall for the year, and the combined points of Kilby, Borich, Bithell and Vaughn secured CanAm the Manufacturers Championship.

The 2007 WPSA Powersport ATV Tour was another exciting year of racing for the Warnert Racing CanAm Team. They secured multiple podium finishes and nine straight main event wins with K&N on their vehicles.

The World of Outlaws defending champion and current points leader was on a mission from the moment he stepped into his car. “These wins just keep feeling better and better,” said Schatz. “It’s unbelievable that we’ve been able to be so good when the big money is on the line. We’re a team in every aspect of the word.”

Schatz was in firm control during the entire race, even when it slowed on lap 32 for a caution. Schatz nearly had a half-track advantage on the second place runner at that time. When the race resumed for the final eight circuits, the Fargo, North Dakota resident regained a comfortable advantage and picked up his second $50,000 pay check of the season. It was the sixth time in 2007 Schatz won a race paying more than $20,000 to win.

Schatz has now joined sprint car legend Steve Kinser as the only drivers to win the prestigious National Open four times during its 45-year history. “It’s an honor to hear your name mentioned with Steve Kinser,” said Schatz. “No one will ever be as good as he is. We are fortunate to have the chance to chase his records and be part of the World of Outlaws.”

Schatz is the also the first sprint car racer to ever win the Kings Royal, Silver Cup, Summer Nationals, Knoxville Nationals and National Open in the same season. Schatz holds a 90-point advantage in the 2007 standings and will be back in action on Friday and Saturday night in Princeton, Minnesota. The Polydome Princeton Nationals are two of the final seven nights remaining in this year’s schedule.
