Kvapil started on the pole, but Mike Skinner took the lead on the first lap. It took five laps before Kvapil put the K&N Ford back out front, where he held onto the lead until lap 23. He reported that his No.6 was tight on entry, a problem that dropped him back to third place. When the first caution flag came out at lap 32, Kvapil went to pit road for tires, fuel and a wedge adjustment.

Kvapil restarted in 3rd position, but moved to second quickly. Kvapil reported that the changes to the K&N Ford helped him in turns one and two, but he continued to fight a tight condition in turns three and four. When the caution flag came out at lap 85, crew chief Mike Beam brought Kvapil back to pit road for adjustments. The K&N crew then sent him back for the restart at lap 95 in the third position.

As the laps clicked off, Kvapil took second position at lap 129 and reassumed the lead on lap 133. The K&N Ford stayed first in the closing laps, giving Kvapil and the K&N Team their fourth win of the 2007 season.

“What an awesome finish,” said Kvapil. “Our whole weekend was awesome. This is the truck we won a couple of races with earlier in the year. We knew it was fast at this type of race track. We were good in practice and just kept working on it. Everyone on the K&N Team did a wonderful job of staying with it.”

Kvapil and the No.6 Filters Team remain in the third position in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series standings following the Las Vegas win. The next race will be at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday, October 6.

On the lap eight restart Matt Cross became the new race leader, but Caddell was right behind him. Caddell managed to take over the lead and never looked back. He also set the Hawk Hot Lap of the race at 79.891 mph.

“I had a run on Matt and dove in,” said Caddell. “He was doing a good job keeping the track narrow, but I had to get by him. I knew I had the better car.”

Caddell has been racing for 11 years. He has always used K&N Engineering products. “I don’t ever remember racing without K&N,” he said. “I started with karts and K&N and now I’m winning with K&N. The air and oil filters give me a competitive edge.”

The Defending World of Outlaws champion returns for a single-night program that kicks off the American Revolution Weekend presented by Chevrolet at Eldora Speedway.

The last time current points leader Donny Schatz was at Eldora, he was in a class of his own behind the wheel of his Global ParkerStore sponsored No. 15 with K&N Engineering Products.

“We’re excited to get back on the track at Eldora,” said Schatz. “It’s not one of my best tracks, but last year we started to figure it out. I know there are a lot of guys who really get around that place well, so we’re just hoping to continue what we’ve been doing the past year and a half.”

Consistency has been the key for Schatz all season. He enters Friday night’s race in western Ohio with 61 top ten finishes in 67 World of Outlaw starts. Those statistics do not include his second consecutive triumph in the Knoxville Nationals finale.

“We won the championship last season by being consistent and that’s been our plan all along this year,” said Schatz. “There’s only a small number of races left this year, so we’ve got to get every one that we can from here on out.”

There are only 11 more events left and six of them are at tracks where Schatz has already won in 2007. “I feel like I’ve got the best crew out there,” said Schatz. “My guys worked hard to give me a race car this good. Our K&N Engineering Carbon Fiber Airbox helps us achieve maximum horsepower at every race.”

The race will be taped by SPEED-TV and air on Sunday, September 30 at 2 p.m. EST.

K&N Apollo Universal Closed Air Intake System for 250 BHP & Turbo 350 BHP Engines

K&N Engineering manufactures a universal Apollo Closed Air Intake System (RC-5052AB) designed to eliminate hot air problems and provide the benefits of an open cone filter and standard air box in one unit. The Apollo's specially designed shape increases volumetric efficiency. To take advantage of the volumetric efficiency, a high flow air filter (RC-5052) is utilized to provide excellent filtration to protect your engine while allowing virtually unrestricted airflow. A silicone treated polyester filter wrap, or DryCharger, is another option K&N offers to help protect your filter against water droplets and to help filter the air even further, extending the service life of the RC-5052 air filter.

The K&N Apollo Closed Air Intake System comes with multiple vent adaptors to fit a universal range of vehicles. The vent adaptors easily attach to the bottom housing of the Apollo System. The cold air inlet hose delivers cold air directly to the Apollo for added performance.

The Apollo has a removable cold air feed attachment with an aluminum end cap. This allows cooler outside air to be fed into the unit. Bench air flow testing has been conducted in the UK and power gains have been consistent under most driving conditions. Rolling road tests also show positive power gains.

The K&N Universal Apollo Closed Air Intake System comes with a standard 70mm flange with a range of optional hose adaptors. The accessories (sold separately) include silicone adaptor hoses available in various sizes (60-70mm part number 85-6003, 70-70mm part number 85-6002 and 70-80mm part number 85-6001).

Route 66 Cruisin' Hall of Fame Honors K&N Engineering

We have been involved with K&N in one way or another for years,” said Shelly McNaul, Route 66 Director of Operations. “K&N supports our events and our growth. K&N has always paid attention to the road. It is a natural fit. The Inland car culture is very strong and Route 66 puts it on display in full force.”

Chief executive officer Steve Rogers received the award on the weekend of the 18th annual Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous at a special Cruisin’ Hall of Fame Ceremony in San Bernardino, California.

Question: What does it mean for K&N to be one of four inductees into the Crusin’ Hall of Fame?
Rogers: “Beyond being just a product for sale, it means the cotton air filter we invented became a major part of the car culture in America because our filters look great and increase horsepower. Now, K&N has been recognized in the Cruisin’ Hall of Fame alongside such names as Hot Rod Magazine, NHRA and the Beach Boys!”

Question: When you received the award of K&N, what was going through your mind?
Rogers: “How fortunate I was to represent the legacy of creative people who made K&N what it is today and after reviewing the names of past inductees, how honored K&N was to be included in such a famous group. I was also thrilled to be introduced by Jack Brown of Stater Bros. Not only is Jack an icon of the Inland Empire, he is personal friend of my Dad’s and Stater Bros. is the title sponsor of the event.”

Question: How does the hot rod culture pertain to K&N?
Rogers: “There were 1700 cars at this event and as I walked around, I saw that vast majority of show cars had a large visible K&N air filter on the top of their engine. People clearly feel that the “look” of a K&N air filter fits right in alongside all the chrome, polish and hard work their car represents.”

Question: How can K&N benefit and give back to the nostalgic atmosphere of Route 66?
Rogers: “We benefit through our association and because these car enthusiasts are our core customers and always have been. They tell everyone else about the quality of our products and why they should buy a washable K&N replacement air filter for their car. The way we try to give back is to participate as a vendor and a sponsor for events all over the country like the Route 66 Rendezvous. A car show, no matter where located is a place we can call home.”

Question: With the experience of semi-profession racers within the company, and the popularity of restoration of hot rods, how do K&N products fit into the overall ambience of Route 66?
Rogers: “Beauty and power, it doesn’t get any better than that. K&N was often the first order of any performance upgrade because our filters could improve horsepower and torque. Next people began to like the way they look so now you see them proudly displayed on show vehicles as for their esthetic appeal and that’s the greatest compliment we’ve every received!”
