In the Nostalgia Funny Car exhibition nine nitro burning retro funny cars lined
up and shook the ground. After a great qualifying round which brought the fans
to their feet, the racers got down to business.
Godfrey, of Moreno Valley, California squared off with Mike Savage in the money
round. Godfrey had a career best of 6.105 @ 234.98 to win. “I use K&N
Engineering’s Oil Filter HP-5001,” said Godfrey. “I’ve used it for years. K&N
Oil Filters protect my engines from dirt and debris. I wouldn’t use anything
else.”
Godfrey said his car is near peak. “It was a flawless weekend in Indianapolis
for both the crew and the car,” he said. “We are going to attempt to repeat our
success this weekend at the NHRA Hot Rod Reunion at National Trails Raceway in
Columbus, Ohio.

K&N's medium carbon fiber airbox part number
100-8570 which includes a base is
now available without a base as part number
100-8575. Both allow your
vehicle's engine to breathe all the clean air it needs for maximum airflow.
K&N has constructed the filter assembly (100-8570) from carbon fiber to
fit from 2" to 2 5/8" Hillborn, Kinsler and Engler stacks. This allows racers to
eliminate clamping a filter on to each individual ram tube. Once the base is in
place, simply slip the main filter assembly over the stacks.

use our K&N oil and cleaner to service your filter.
2006 Irwindale, California Turkey Night Champion Billy Wease went to the finish
line with 100-8570. Runner up Kody Swanson also uses K&N's medium carbon fiber airbox on his midget.
Racers now have the option to buy the complete K&N filter assembly or the K&N filter
element without the base. Also available is the base plate only as part number
100-8573.
From the outside the Honda Fit is a subcompact with good handling for a car of
its class. The Fit is beginning to build a fan base in the United States after
tooling around roads in Europe and Asia for some time. The small power train
also produces big benefits at the gas pump.
Air Intake for 2007 and 2008 Honda Fit
K&N Engineering has released a 69-Series Typhoon Air Intake
(69-1016-1TS) for the 2007 and 2008 Honda Fit 1.5 liter engine in powder coated silver. The
design of the vehicle played a major role in the development and design. "We
made sure that the intake system followed the lines of the Honda Fit," said K&N
Project Technician Nestor Cabrera. "There is symmetry between the K&N Typhoon
Kit and the engine compartment."
Power Gain Chart for Honda Fit with K&N Air Intake
K&N dynamometer tests show a 5.72 horsepower gain @ 5850 RPM for this
Typhoon Intake. "We incorporated the factory intake air temperature sensor with
our K&N High Flow Air Filter (RU-5163)," said Cabrera. "The K&N Air Filter was
designed especially for the Fit's 1.5 liter engine. The heat shield isolates the
K&N Air Filter from the engine compartment and keeps the air around it cooled."
It takes about an hour to
install this Typhoon
Intake Kit with simple hand tools. K&N Typhoon Systems are designed to improve engine performance along with under the hood
visual appeal.
On June 23rd Andrew Caddell will celebrate his 19th birthday. His present came
early this year with his first professional win at Portland International
Raceway in Round Four of the SIRIUS Satellite Radio Mazda MX-5 Cup.
Andrew Caddell's 2007 Mazda MX-5 Miata
Caddell was able to dominate the last part of the race and win by a 6.327 second
margin. After starting on the front row the Graham, Washington racer took the
lead by the third lap. A heated battle began between Caddell and Brad McAllister
of Portland, Oregon.
Jason Saini of Forth Worth, Texas came from behind and took over the lead from
Caddell and McAllister. By lap 11 Caddell took first place back. Caddell powered
away to a 2.096 second lead on lap 12 and continued to open the gap to the
finish on lap 31.
“It felt great to win,” said Caddell. “After I broke out I just sat back and
watched the other racers fight it out behind me.” Halfway through the season
Caddell is in a very strong 4th position in season points and only 4 points out
of 2nd place.
“I started racing when I was 9-years-old,” said Caddell. “I started with karts
and K&N Engineering was part of my life back then. I don’t remember racing
without K&N products. K&N Air and Oil Filters give me a competitive edge.”
Round five and Six of the Mazda MX-5 Cup will take place June 25-27 at Burke
Lakefront Airport as part of the Grand Prix of Cleveland, Ohio.

Brad Kuhn is four for four in the USAC Badger Midget Series. The Avon, Indiana
native scored another victory Sunday night at Angell Park Speedway in Sun
Prairie, Wisconsin.
If he wins next Sunday it would tie him with John Hartwig for the most
consecutive wins to start a season in the series 71 year history. Hartwig set the
record in 1973.

“The whole thing is pretty cool,” said Kuhn. “But I’m my biggest
critic. When we go to any race we always go with the thought of winning. We’ve
had a great start to the season, but we still have a lot of races to go.”
Kuhn started the feature race in the fourth row, with several cars ahead of him.
Jake Slotten flipped on the opening lap of the 30 lap feature. He was not
injured but it caused a complete restart. Mike Hess took the lead with Kuhn
moving into 4th place on the second circuit.
There were two more cautions over the next two laps when Danny Stratton and
Scott Hatton both stopped on the track. On the 5th lap, Kuhn moved into 2nd
place. By lap 10 Hess had a strong lead over Kuhn but the Avon, Indiana racer
caught him within two laps.
Kuhn increased his lead with each lap and finished 6.16 seconds ahead of Hess at
the finish. The USAC Racer uses K&N Engineering Products. “Our engines last a
lot longer with K&N,” said Kuhn. “We notice additional performance and a big increase in power."
