In one of the most exciting races in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Travis
Kvapil finished third in the No.6 K&N Engineering Ford F-150 at Daytona
International Speedway. He is part of Daytona history with the eighth closest
finish in the Series' record books.

Series Race at Daytona
“Daytona can be tough,” said Jack Roush, owner of Roush Industries, Inc.
“Travis did everything he needed to do. A lot of times you can have the fastest
vehicle and still not win.”

Kvapil started the race in 4th position and put the K&N Ford at the top of
the leader board at lap 18. He ran in front of the field until lap 23 when a
caution involving several trucks and lots of debris changed things. Crew Chief
Mike Beam called the K&N No.6 to pit road. Kvapil restarted 8th at lap 29 and
was back in front by lap 37. He continued dominating until Benson pushed Sprague
around Kvapil at turn four, bringing the three trucks to the finish line. Sprage
took the win with a mere 0.31 second margin of victory.
“I’ve been here before and I knew that was going to happen,” said Kvapil. “I got
down the backstretch and looked in my mirror and thought I’m too far on these
guys. Either way, if I just held it wide open, they would have passed me
earlier. I’m disappointed. I was dragging on the brake down the backstretch and
trying to split the air between those two guys. In doing that I lost a lot of my
own momentum. Our K&N F-150 was the best truck out there and I feel like I let
down the guys on the team. I don’t know how I could have done it any better. If
I moved up we would have wrecked, so I needed to give him just enough room and
unfortunately it cost me the win. I’m really proud of everybody with Roush
Fenway Racing. They gave me the best truck in testing and I had the best truck
out there. As for K&N, we just signed them last Thursday for Daytona, so we’re
really happy to get them out front most of the night.”
“I am a customer and proponent of K&N,” said Roush. “From our prospective K&N
products have provided us with performance over the last decade.”
“We’re thrilled to team up with Travis Kvapil and Roush Fenway Racing,” said
Charles Maier, Sports Marketing Director of K&N Engineering. “Roush Racing, now
Roush Fenway Fracing has been in the business of winning races for many years
and we are pleased to be associated at Daytona and look forward to an on-going
business relationship with the new joint venture.”
Kvapil is tied for second in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point standings,
just 15 points out of the lead. The next race is at California Speedway on
February 23.

The Gatorz Karting Cup Streets of Willow Springs is an annual event. Rotax
powered sprint racing Go-Karts rumble through a high-speed 1.8 mile course near
Rosamond, California.
14-year-old Jacob Pearlman
At Willow Springs International Motorsports Park there are over 120 feet in
elevation changes, 2 long straights at 1000 feet and 20 banked, decreasing
radius 180 degree turns.
Jacob Pearlman, 14 of Carslbad, California hit the track early with 85 other
Rotax competitors. “Jacob’s day went off to a rough start,” said Jacob’s father
Richard Pearlman. “A kart ahead of him ran off the track and into the dirt. It
kicked up a chunk of loose pavement that struck Jacob on his left knee. He sped
off the track and into the dirt at more than 50 mph. After a quick check by
paramedics, Jacob was ready to go back on the track.”
At speeds as high as 85 mph, 5 karts were nose to tail to take the 2nd through
6th qualifying spots. “Jacob qualified 4th,” said Pearlman. “He posted an
identical time, down to 1/100ths of a second as the 3rd place qualifier.”
The Pearlmans use K&N Engineering products. “We use the K&N Kart Air Box and K&N
Air Filter,” he said. “K&N Products provide us with a cost effective solution
for a very expensive hobby. I just clean the products and reuse them.”
In the 15 minute heat, Jacob’s motor began to pop and sputter in the draft, but
he was able to hold on for a 5th place finish. The 25 minute main event went 17
laps. “Jacob took advantage of a wild start and moved up to 3rd coming out of
the first turn following a drop of the green flag,” said Pearlman. “Jacob stayed
in line with the leaders and remained at 3rd. After three laps, Jacob’s motor
began to pop and sputter again. He had no choice but to try and stay in the race
as his engine continued to fade. At the end of 17 laps Jacob finished 10th.”
After the race, Pearlman said his son was disappointed. His kart had a broken
reed valve. “Jacob is taking a few weeks off from racing to focus on school,”
said Pearlman. His next Gatorz Rotax race will be at California Speedway.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer is the best-selling version of a General Motors design

K&N Engineering, Inc. has developed a 63 Series Air Intake Kit (63-3062) for
2007, 2008 and 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer 4.2 liter engine, 2006 to 2009 GMC Envoy 4.2 liter engine
and 2007 through 2009 Isuzu Ascender 4.2 liter engine.

K&N dynamometer test showed an estimated horsepower gain of 9.5 @ 4725. "The factory
tube shape was not efficient in getting the air box to the throttle body," said K&N
performance Kit Manager Bert Heck. "The placement of the mass air sensor, the
dimension of the intake tube and the use of an open element K&N Air Filter is
where we gained the additional horse power."
K&N's 63-3062 rotationally molded polyethylene air intake uses a K&N Universal
Air Filter (RU-4730). The heat shield isolates the filter element from the heat
of the engine. This results in cooler air going into the engine.

install most K&N air intakes with common tools.

GM's new full-sized SUVs, the GMC Yukon and Yukon Denali, are based on the new GM
full-sized SUV platform. These models feature the next generation small block
V-8. Other popular V8s in this line are the GMC Sierra, the Chevrolet Tahoe,
Suburban, Silverado, and Avalanche. The 2007 Cadillac Escalade is another luxury
choice that shares its platform with the Denali and Tahoe.

K&N Engineering has developed a 77 Series High-Flow Performance Kit (77-3058KP)
with a bright finish for the above mentioned 2007 and 2008 models. K&N dynamometer tests
show an estimated horsepower gain of 12.4 @4917 on the 2007 GMC Yukon 5.3 liter engine.

"The factory air box has an s-shaped bend and a tight radius at the
throttle body which restricts air flow," said K&N Performance Kit Manager Bert
Heck. "We gained horsepower by removing the factory intake tube and factory air
box and replaced it with a larger K&N Intake with a smoother radius at the
throttle body. We also put in an oversized cone shaped K&N Air Filter (RF-1042).
The K&N Air Intake System is free-flowing which results in more power."

Replacement Air Filter for Suzuki Grand Vitara
K&N Engineering has released a lifetime replacement air filter (33-2361) for certain 2005 and 2014 Suzuki Grand Vitara models. The washable, reusable, flat panel filter is designed, like all other K&N Air Filters, to increase horsepower and acceleration, while providing excellent filtration.
To add performance, simply remove the disposable air filter and drop in the K&N
Air Filter. 33-2361 is 0.75 inches in height (19mm) with an outside length of 9 inches
(229 mm) and an outside width of 6.875 inches (175mm).
K&N has sold more than twenty million replacement air filters and makes the
World's best air filter by making good use of our experience and knowledge. The
effectiveness of K&N Air Filters is related to the type of cotton we use, the
weave of the individual cotton strands, the process by which it is woven, the
chemistry of the oil, the oil's viscosity and absorbency along with the
structural aspects of the aluminum wire.
K&N invented the concept of washable, reusable filters more than 35 years ago.
There is a great deal of engineering behind every K&N Filter. Each filter is custom designed to fit in the factory air box and requires no modifications.
K&N's stock replacement air filters for street vehicles are covered by our famous K&N Million-Mile Limited Warranty and will be the last air filter your
vehicle will ever need.
